What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is a health practice that specializes in restoration of function through assessment, treatment and management of diseases and injuries.

Physiotherapists utilize various modalities including exercise therapy, electrotherapy, manual therapy to treat and return patients to optimal movement and function. Physiotherapists work with clients of all ages, from day old babies to the elderly.

Physiotherapist specialize in various areas including orthopedic/ Musculoskeletal, Neurology, Women and Men’s Health, Sports among others.

Some common conditions treated by Physiotherapist include neck, back pain and spondylosis, Joint sprains and muscle strains, stroke rehabilitation, urinary incontinence etc.

In the recent past, spondylosis was a condition common among people aged 45 and over, this trend has since reversed. The percentage of clients 40 and under that walk into the consulting room with problems affecting their spine has increased. With COVID and remote working, the number of neck and upper back pain complaints has skyrocketed.
