Lassa fever outbreak in Nigeria
Lassa fever was first identified in the town “Lassa, Borno state in Nigeria in 1969. It has since become endemic in the West African sub-region. It is a Viral Hemorrhagic Fever with a 1% fatality rate during out breaks.
There has been an outbreak in Nigeria in the past 6 weeks. It is therefore important for neighbouring countries to be on high alert.
